2020 Economic Forecast

Just 36 hours after polls close on November 3, internationally acclaimed political scientist and professor at Youngstown State University Dr. Paul Sracic will deliver the keynote address during the Regional Chamber's Economic Forecast breakfast at the new Eastwood Event Centre in Niles.

Dr. Sracic, soon after making national television appearances analyzing election results, will speak in person at the Chamber breakfast and forecast what the political future looks like after one of the most contentious presidential elections in American history.

In 2016, Dr. Sracic countered political polls and correctly predicted that Donald Trump's appeal to working class voters throughout the Midwest created a path to an electoral college victory. 

He will be joined at our Economic Forecast breakfast by First National Bank's Ahmed El Nokali, Managing Director and Head of Interest Rate Management, Capital Markets, will forecast the regional and national economy. El Nokali will also include his perspective on energy, as our Valley ramps up the electrification of vehicles, and impacts on the economy due to COVID.

Our speakers and guests will kick off the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Cafaro Co. to celebrate the much-anticipated opening of the Eastwood Event Centre.

In addition, the Chamber and partner MAGNET will present their fourth Excellence in Manufacturing Award to Panelmatic.

The Chamber and Eastwood Event Centre will follow all COVID-related guidelines as set forth by the State of Ohio, and attendees will be seated as six at larger tables that typically hold 10-12. More information will be sent to registrants prior to the event.

Panelmatic, Inc., a leading manufacturer of custom-built electrical and process instrument control panels, opened a new division, Panelmatic Building Solutions (PBS), in Brookfield Township in 2019. The company's growth into a 73,000 square-foot manufacturing plant at 6882 Parkway Drive expanded the production capabilities of the 63-year-old company to better serve its customers in the industrial utilities market. PBS fabricates Panelmatic's custom control houses and can manufacture a much greater number of units in the larger space.
