State Rep. Michael O’Brien, an advocate for legislation that would pave the way for a sweeping expansion of high-speed broadband Internet for the State of Ohio, especially urban cores like Warren and rural areas throughout Trumbull County, will be the featured guest when the Regional Chamber’s Lattes & Legislators speaker series resumes on Monday, March 1.
O’Brien’s HB 13 died during the Ohio General Assembly’s last session but was resurrected this year by State Sen. Bob Peterson. Now SB 8, the legislation would help the Valley with business attraction and fill a glaring weakness that became evident during COVID, as so many students in urban and rural areas were unable to connect for online learning.
The Chamber’s monthly Lattes & Legislators series helps connect government officials with their constituents in the business community. Rep. O’Brien is expected to discuss some of the Valley’s top public policy priorities, including development of the Lordstown Smart Logistics Hub, protecting and growing the Youngstown Air Reserve Station--which is Trumbull County’s largest employer--and helping businesses adapt to additive manufacturing.
